It is headed by the Vice President of the ULIE Myroslav Tabakharniuk. The Center of Decarbonization was created on the basis of The Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
It is noted that Ukraine has taken a course for the energy modernization of its own economy, which also includes decarbonization.
It is both about reducing industrial emissions to protect the environment and about a completely pragmatic component: without achieving clear indicators of decarbonization, Ukrainian goods will be subject to restrictions on the EU market and other key export markets for our country.
According to the ULIE, decarbonization of the Ukrainian industry will cost 37 billion euros only in 2022-2030.
However, the state plans for coordinating this process are still unclear in Ukraine, there are risks that the task of decarbonization will be shifted solely to the factories and enterprises themselves, which are already financially depleted.
Therefore, in order to prepare systemic proposals from the industrial community, it was decided to create a Decarbonization Center at the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
Members of the ULIE Board voted for this at a joint meeting with the Anti-Crisis Council of public organizations.
The Center will be headed by Vice President of the ULIE, Myroslav Tabakharniuk, and will include experts from among well-known scientists and representatives of the professional community who will deal with the issues of synchronization of global trends and European legislation in this area.
The following main tasks of the ULIE Decarbonization Center are named:
- analysis and research of the needs of Ukrainian enterprises for the next decarbonization;
- preparation, collection and analysis of technological innovation opportunities, products and best practices for the economy of Ukraine;
- development of effective mechanisms for attracting financial resources, in particular donors for supporting decarbonization goals;
- support, promotion and consulting of enterprise projects aimed at decarbonization and implementation of green investments.
